Investors Mutual LimitedChallengeInvestors Mutual Limited is one of Australia's most successful investment funds managers. Recently awarded fund manager of the year for Australian equities, at the prestigious Money Management/ASSIRT awards. The company had a manual system of inputting data from a number of different sources into their back office portfolio system. SolutionIt was decided to adopt an automated system to reduce the error rate during data manipulation and to increase staff productivity as a result of providing them with more time to perform their main functions. The automated system needed to retrieve stock index information from a Barra system for different market sections and provide a live stock price from Credit Suisse. After, additionaly, calculating the weight and market capitalisation for each different sector the system needed to process the information in a format that could be read in the back office system. Elixir Solutions Provider developed an automatic interface program that achieved stock index information retrieval with live stock pricing, weight and market capitalisation and a process whereby the information could be read by the back office system. The interface program achieved automatic execution on a daily basis, and automatic report retrieval from the perpetual report system to back office system. ResultsInstallation of an easy to use live interface program eliminating manual data manipulation and the associated high error rate, now provides staff with increased free time to undertake the main tasks they are employed to perform. This provides the company with a more effective, efficient and cost saving system. |
