Tartan Credit Union Limited
Challenge
Tartan Credit Union operating in NSW for benefit of its customers.
Navigation was difficult due to there being too many sections.
Information difficult to find due partly to pages on web site being generally cluttered.
Need for staff to update information regularly with an easy to use site.
To change look and scope of web site by making site more modern, by enabling it to be used for
future marketing, and by attracting more members – particularly from 3M Company.
To create a simple content management facility so that staff could quickly and efficiently update the
site without need for extensive or ongoing training.
To introduce a scaleable design so that new services could be added in the future when available.
Solution
Generally, it was necessary to redesign the whole web site so that it projected a far simpler image
and provided information easily and quickly, even to first time member users.
The site was made more visually appealing, particularly for the young professional.
The use of the following combination of colours:
- Blue, to represent trust and security, as well as being the credit union’s corporate colour;
- Green, for money and youth;
- Orange, to engender a feeling of energy, balance and warmth;
- Brown, to represent reliability, comfort and endurance; and
- Grey, for intellect.
Tartan Credit Union needed to reflect the principal that members come first (before profits) as the
credit union is a non profit organisation.
The colours portrayed the credit union as secure and reliable, able to astutely manage and invest
members money while providing an energetic but warm, caring and appealing customer service.
Information was provided in a simple logical and clean 3 column format using HTML style sheet.
A navigation, drop down menu and a site map of web site for easy access to information by
members, was also provided.
The use of pictures/animation was reduced significantly to improve download times.
An additional information (What’s New?) section including a brief tour of web site was added.
Registration for users to register for online banking and bpay was also provided, and on each page,
with one mouse click to avoid having to find the link to these facilities.
A simple content management facility was established so that staff could easily and efficiently
update the site as required.
Results
The new web site projected a new, fresh looking image and simple navigation.
The use of tartan internet banking is only one mouse click away.
The web site can be easily and regularly updated providing members with the latest news, new
information and offerings from the credit union.
Traffic on new web has been steadily increasing.
